His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, discussed the distinguished friendship and opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation, particularly in investment and economic aspects within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as various regional and international issues of common interest. This took place during the Chinese President's reception of His Highness in Beijing.
The Chinese President welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing his happiness to meet him in China and to host him for the opening of the "2022 Winter Olympics." For his part, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and his best wishes for the President's continued health and happiness, as well as further progress and prosperity for China and its friendly people.
His Highness also congratulated President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the "Chinese New Year," wishing it to be a year of goodness, peace, and prosperity for China and its people. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese President for the invitation to attend the "2022 Winter Olympics," praising the opening ceremony and the quality of the organization of the event, especially as it takes place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping it would succeed in fostering understanding and friendship among the youth of the world, thereby strengthening the foundations of peace and coexistence on the international stage.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed the friendship and areas of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and the People's Republic of China and identified key promising opportunities for its development, particularly in investment, economic, scientific, and cultural fields that serve the mutual interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
Additionally, His Highness and President Xi Jinping discussed several regional and international issues of mutual interest and exchanged views regarding developments in the Middle East, affirming their shared commitment to work towards peace, development, and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Executive Council Member and Head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Executive Council Member; and His Excellency Ali Obaid Ali Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.
Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended a luncheon hosted by President Xi Jinping in honor of the guest leaders attending the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
