A Dangerous Mistake in Stroke Treatment

Dr. Alexander Myasnikov has announced that administering blood pressure-lowering medications to a patient suffering from a stroke can be lethal. The Russian doctor states in a televised conversation that high blood pressure is the cause of cerebral vein blockage. He explains, "When we attempt to lower blood pressure, we simply kill the person. Of course, a doctor is allowed to reduce blood pressure by no more than 20 percent of the existing level, and this should be done within a specific timeframe."

Myasnikov highlights that blood pressure should not be lowered for such patients because this leads to a decrease in perfusion pressure in the brain, heart, and kidneys, which often results in the patient's death. He poses the question, "In this case, do we give the patient medication to lower their pressure or do we leave them alone? It’s better to do nothing and let fate take its course, as they might survive. However, by administering the medication, we might kill them, meaning the outcome will be dire."

Myasnikov recommends transferring a person who has suffered a stroke to the hospital within three hours, where they can receive the necessary assistance.
