A strange incident occurred in Honduras where a man returned to his family four days after his funeral, causing great shock to his wife.
The details of this incident go back to the end of last December when "Victoria Sarmiento" received a call from "Occidente" hospital in Honduras informing her that her 65-year-old husband had died of COVID-19. She went to the hospital morgue to identify his body and confirmed that the corpse belonged to her husband, subsequently obtaining a burial permit. Victoria then transported the body for burial in the town of "San Nicolas" in Copan, where the body was buried.
However, Victoria was stunned when her husband appeared four days after the funeral, having been found in a field in the neighboring town of "Trinidad." The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that the husband had been out for a walk when he collapsed to the ground and remained unable to get up for days without food.
In a statement to local media, Victoria explained that there may have been a mix-up at the morgue when she identified what was supposed to be her husband's body. She called on the hospital to reimburse her for the expenses of burying a man who was not her husband, pointing out that authorities should have been more diligent in verifying the identities of those in the morgue.
In this context, a hospital official confirmed that the man who was mistakenly buried had been admitted in critical condition and suffering from "COVID-19," passing away just hours later. The hospital management stated that they were not responsible for what had happened, emphasizing that it was the wife who confirmed the identity of the person shown to her in the morgue, noting that there was a strong resemblance between her husband and the deceased.
