Bride Murdered After 25 Days of Marriage

In August 2020, a horrific murder took place in the village of Amir within the Dikrnes city in Dakahlia governorate, Egypt, specifically on the first day of Eid al-Adha. A husband killed his wife just 25 days after their marriage, with the assistance of his mother, due to ongoing disputes between them.

According to Masrawy, titled "Honeymoon Crimes," details from official investigations reveal how a bride was killed by her husband and mother-in-law on the first day of Eid al-Adha, sparked by disagreements over items in the "nish," a traditional cabinet.

The young couple had a traditional wedding surrounded by family celebrations, and everything seemed to be harmonious between the two families until the wedding festivities concluded and the couple moved into their marital home. They both agreed to spend their lives together, believing they were well-suited for each other, but what awaited them turned out to be worse than they imagined, leading to the wife’s demise while the groom found himself behind bars alongside his mother.

Just 25 days into their marriage, as they were about to complete one month together, conflicts arose due to the husband's mother continuously interfering in their lives. The husband even started pressuring his wife to serve his mother. Tensions escalated with physical abuse from the husband, although the wife complied out of obedience to her husband.

The situation persisted in discomfort until the first day of Eid al-Adha, when the bride returned from visiting her family and found her mother-in-law taking items from her "nish" without asking for permission. This led to renewed verbal altercations between them. When the husband returned home, he heard complaints from his mother and violently assaulted his wife. Upon hearing their fight, the mother came upstairs to assist her son in the attack on the wife.

Minutes later, after the brutal beating, the bride gasped her last breaths and died on the marital bed that had not even been used for a full month. When the husband and his mother confirmed that the wife was dead, they attempted to conceal their crime by throwing her body from the rooftop to eliminate any suspicion of foul play. However, a neighbor witnessed them and reported it.

Following a report to the authorities, investigation officers arrived at the scene, where they found indications of a criminal act. The bride's father, a tuk-tuk driver, accused the husband and mother-in-law of causing his daughter's death due to the severe beating she endured because of ongoing disputes.

The father stated in his report that he learned from neighbors about a fight between his deceased daughter and her mother-in-law on the first day of Eid after she returned from his visit. He was shocked to receive a call from his daughter's husband informing him that she had fallen from the roof and died.

After legal procedures were initiated, a team of investigation officers arrested the husband and his mother, who were held for questioning as the public prosecutor was notified to initiate an investigation, ordering a forensic examination to determine the cause of death. The forensic report confirmed signs of beating on the victim, stating that her death resulted from violence and torture.
