The Egyptian Football Association announced today, Tuesday, that all members of the national team tested negative for COVID-19 ahead of their upcoming match against Cameroon, scheduled for Thursday in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon. The Egyptian Association stated on its official Facebook page today: "The results of the medical tests conducted on the national team delegation today in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé, in preparation for the match against Cameroon on Thursday, showed that all samples from the delegation members were negative."
On another note, the association announced that player Ahmed Hegazi will travel today to Munich, Germany, to receive treatment for an injury sustained during the match in which the Egyptian team defeated Morocco 2-1 on Sunday in the quarter-finals. The association said: "Ahmed Hegazi, the national team player, is heading to Munich this evening to begin his treatment program at a specialized medical center there, according to what his injury requires from the encounter between Egypt and Morocco in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations."
Hegazi suffered a muscle injury during the match against Morocco and was unable to complete the game. Immediately after the match, he underwent scans that confirmed a tear in the adductor muscle, which means he will not be able to continue in the tournament and requires transfer to a specialized medical center for such cases.
