"Al Arabiya" and "Al Hadath" reported that a number of children were killed and dozens were injured in a rocket attack. Local sources and eyewitnesses told "Al Arabiya.net" that the Houthi militia targeted the residential neighborhood of Al Rawda in the densely populated city of Marib with three ballistic rockets, confirming that violent explosions shook the city as a result of this bombardment.
The local authority in Marib Governorate previously stated that the Houthi militia had shelled the city with more than 300 ballistic and non-ballistic rockets, in addition to drone attacks targeting crowded neighborhoods of civilians and displaced persons in camps. They condemned the complete international silence regarding the terrorist acts committed by the Houthi militia and its repeated targeting of civilians and displaced persons in camps with ballistic missiles and drones, which has encouraged them to commit further crimes that rise to the level of war crimes.
A Yemeni rights coalition revealed last Thursday that the Iran-backed Houthi militia was responsible for the deaths and injuries of 2,032 individuals, including 294 children, 132 women, and 104 elderly people from December 2014 to June 2021, due to their direct and deliberate targeting of populated areas and displacement camps in Marib Governorate.
The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations (Rasd Coalition) reported in a report on Houthi violations in Marib, titled "Marib: Civilians Under Bombardment and Siege," that the victims who fell either dead or injured were because of the excessive use by the Houthi militia of ballistic missiles, Katyusha rockets, drones, artillery shells, landmines, and explosive devices.
The report recorded 1,287 reports and complaints related to shelling incidents and landmine explosions executed by the militia, highlighting the rights of civilians in Marib Governorate. It documented 871 rocket shelling incidents, 119 artillery shelling incidents, 44 drone attack incidents, and 262 incidents of landmine and unexploded ordnance explosions.
The report documented the deaths of 440 civilians, including 61 children, 37 women, and 29 elderly people, and injuries to 914 civilians, including 124 children, 73 women, and 60 elderly people as a result of rocket attacks on residential areas and displacement camps across 11 districts in Marib.
