Wheat and Oil to Lebanon: General Ibrahim: Iraq is

The Mayor of Yamouna, Talal Shreif, honored the General Director of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, in a ceremony held at his residence in Yamouna. The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas Al-Haj Hassan, Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin, MP Tony Habeshi, former MP Emil Rahma, political, religious figures, security leaders, municipal heads, tribal dignitaries, and various officials.

After a visit where Major General Ibrahim inspected the Yamouna Lake, and following an explanation by Mayor Talal Shreif regarding the climatic importance of the lake and its role in providing drinking water for dozens of villages, as well as its significance in fish farming, Ibrahim responded to journalists' questions by stating, "I visited Iraq in light of what we did last year, which included signing a contract to supply Iraq with one million tons of oil or fuel oil for electricity. This contract is nearing completion, and the last shipment will arrive in Lebanon as agreed in September. It was necessary for us to approach Iraq and request our Iraqi brothers to renew the contract. Iraq has proven to be 'more generous than us' and has promised to extend the contract and increase the amount provided to Lebanon to two million tons."

In response to a question about the security situation, Major General Ibrahim indicated that the security situation in Yamouna is stable, and the security situation in Lebanon is similar to that in Yamouna. While there may be some "security breaches," they do not imply a complete breakdown; the security situation is akin to any security situation worldwide.

Regarding the passport crisis, he confirmed that "the passport issue has lasted a year or less, related to opening credits and stemming from delays in this process. Last month, the credits were opened, and the passport issue will begin to resolve starting October."

On the request for flour from Iraq, he stated, "We asked for flour from Iraq, but it turned out that Iraq does not have a flour stockpile and has promised to provide wheat instead of flour." Mayor Talal Shreif delivered a welcoming speech for Major General Ibrahim.
