Turkish Ambassador Visits Akkar Province as Farewell

Turkish Ambassador Hakan Çakıl, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation from the embassy, visited Akkar Province as part of his farewell visits upon completing his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.

According to the National News Agency, the Turkish ambassador began his visit with a meeting at the hall in the town of Kawashra, where he was welcomed by local officials. The meeting started with a welcoming speech by the mayor of Kawashra, Mohamed Abdul Karim, who praised the Turkish state and its charitable contributions and various projects, hoping for their continuation amidst the difficult economic conditions in Lebanon. In turn, Ambassador Çakıl thanked everyone for the warm reception and emphasized Turkey's support for the Lebanese state and its people, noting that his visit to Kawashra was a visit to his family and relatives.

The Turkish ambassador then proceeded to the town of Eidmun, where he was received by officials from the towns of Eidmun and Shikhlara, along with a group of religious leaders. The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the vice president of the municipal council, Shafiq Haddad, expressing gratitude to the Turkish ambassador for the projects provided and for including Eidmun in his farewell visits. Following this, two consecutive speeches were delivered by Sheikh Omar Mohamed, Sheikh Louay Al-Haj, and Father Saroufem Awwad, who expressed their gratitude and affection for Ambassador Çakıl. He delivered a speech expressing his love for the Lebanese, especially the people of Eidmun and Shikhlara, highlighting the coexistence and affection that characterize the town, which he considered a miniature model of Lebanon's coexistence and unity.

At the end of the meeting, the attendees presented a handmade wall rug featuring the Lebanese and Turkish flags, crafted by the women of Eidmun as a token of love and appreciation. The ambassador concluded his visit to Akkar with a visit to the home of Kamel Maqsood, president of the Turkish-Lebanese Cultural Association, where he thanked him for the positive role the association plays as a bridge of communication between Turkey and the Lebanese people.
