Saudi social media star and makeup expert, Bodour Al-Braheem, revealed one of her personal secrets, as she turned down a marriage proposal with a hefty dowry of 266 million Saudi Riyals. In a video she shared on the social media platform Snapchat, she responded to a follower who described her as "cheap," saying, "A guy I don’t know and who doesn’t know me said he wants to marry me and will pay me 266 million Riyals as a dowry." She addressed her follower with the question, "Was your mother cheap when your father paid her a dowry?"
She added, "The man is well-off and wants to pay me, and this is the law of God. I have never gotten married through a relationship; it has always been traditional marriage. So I am cheap? When a man pays me, does that make me cheap? When he is financially capable and pays according to the way of God and his Prophet, I become cheap?"
Al-Braheem expressed a desire to break away from the norms of her conservative society, stating, "This time, I want to marry a man I know, and who knows me, someone I love and who loves me. If I just point, I could get married tomorrow, but I don’t want to marry randomly."
