English football legend Gary Lineker believes that the signing of Algerian international Riyad Mahrez is the best transfer in Premier League history in terms of value, according to "Russia Today." Leicester City signed Riyad Mahrez in January 2014 from French club Le Havre for just €450,000 when he was 22 years old, before moving to English club Manchester City in the summer of 2018 for €68 million on a five-year deal.
Lineker, the top scorer of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, endorsed Mahrez in response to a tweet from the official Football Joe account, which posed the question: "Pound for pound... What is the best value signing in Premier League history?"
Mahrez played a key role in Leicester City’s "football miracle," helping the club win its first-ever Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season. He has received numerous individual awards, including the Premier League Player of the Season (becoming the first African to win this award) and the African Player of the Year.
This season, Riyad Mahrez has been performing well with Manchester City, surpassing his goal tally at Leicester City with 21 goals across all competitions, compared to 19 goals during his historic season.
