UAE Welcomes Yemeni President's Decision to Form Presidential Leadership Council

The United Arab Emirates welcomed the decision of Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi to establish a Presidential Leadership Council to continue implementing the tasks of the transitional phase, granting it full powers of the President of the Republic according to the constitution and the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism. The UAE expressed hope that this step would contribute to reaching a comprehensive political solution among the Yemeni parties, achieving peace, stability, development, and prosperity for Yemen and its brotherly people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated its full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the supporting bodies and entities to enable it to carry out its functions and resolve the Yemeni crisis, ensuring security and stability in Yemen, and fulfilling the aspirations of its brotherly people for development and prosperity. The United Arab Emirates welcomed the invitation from the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Presidential Leadership Council to begin negotiations with the Houthis under the auspices of the United Nations to reach a final and comprehensive political solution that includes a transitional period, emphasizing Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in achieving stability and security for Yemen. The UAE praised the ongoing efforts of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council to support peace and stability in Yemen and to reach a comprehensive political solution among the Yemeni parties. The UAE reiterated its commitment to stand by the brotherly Yemeni people and support their aspirations and ambitions, in line with its policy that supports everything that serves the interests of the peoples of the region.
