The Syrian artist Shadi Jamil stated that the Lebanese artist Najwa Karam lacks humility, explaining that he sang the song "Shahba w Shamelu Fiiki" in 2013, from which the melody was later borrowed for her song "Beirut," composed by Wissam Al Amir.
In his interview with the program "Hewar VIP" hosted by journalist Yamen Deeb on "Souriana FM," Jamil mentioned that Najwa Karam did not comment on the matter and did not reach out to him at all, expressing this by saying, "Why does Najwa think she is someone?" He added that Lebanese television stopped airing Najwa Karam's song "Beirut" after that. He continued, saying that Karam took from him the song "Enti Al Shams Al Ma Bitghib," adding: "I don't want to reproach her because if I do, I would appreciate her."
The artist pointed out that Karam is a star with her own audience, but he does not like her voice and does not listen to her songs. Shadi Jamil expressed his fondness for the artist Elissa, who contacted him when she learned that the melody of her song "Salmili Alayh" was similar to the beginning of his song "Leish Ana Hobak Junoon" and asked him what she needs to do regarding it.
In another context, the artist discussed talent shows, indicating that artists who emerged from these programs, such as Shahd Barhamda and Hazem Sherif, did not become stars in the absolute sense, while the only one who became a first-class star is the artist Nassif Zaitoon because the production company adopted him and crafted him as an artist, choosing suitable lyrics and melodies for him. He explained that the production companies behind these programs focus on the stardom of the jury members rather than their artistic history and academic background, praising the history of artist Hani Shaker, the artist Samira Said, and the experience of artist Melhem Zein while not commenting on Najwa Karam's experience on the judging panel of The Voice Senior.
Shadi Jamil mentioned in his interview that no one discovered him, but he worked with production companies in his early days before launching his career. He noted that today, merely participating in a talent show can make an artist a star if they have acceptance and a production company that promotes them.
