Cellular companies "Touch" and "Alpha" announced in a statement that they "successfully maintained the stability of their networks during the election day, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Telecommunications despite a doubled usage across Lebanon." The statement pointed out that "regarding the Touch network, it performed excellently on election day, sustaining high performance indicators even with a 50% increase in communications and a 30% increase in data usage. The availability of the Touch network reached its highest levels, exceeding 93% during the day and reaching 95.2% in the Beirut administrative area, thanks to the proactive measures taken by Touch and close coordination among all parties to ensure network availability everywhere."
It was noted that "the enhanced availability of the Touch network also led to an increased network capacity and better coverage, particularly in remote areas, which helped maintain a good user experience across Lebanon, accommodating the increased traffic distributed throughout the region. For instance, the speed and accessibility of the network remained consistent despite facing some challenges in specific locations, which were promptly addressed through improvement measures that reflected a smooth network performance."
As for "Alpha," the statement mentioned that "thanks to the complete readiness of the network and the diligent monitoring of the company's workforce throughout the election day, service stability was achieved in all regions, with no reported issues. Internet service saw a notable rise, with consumption reaching 20% more than typical Sundays. Alpha managed to smoothly accommodate this unprecedented increase. Applications like Twitter, WhatsApp, and Snapchat accounted for the highest usage percentages among subscribers. Additionally, there was a significant rise in communication traffic exceeding 20%, with calls fully secured, and network availability reached its peak at 93.4%."
It was highlighted that "Alpha's teams were distributed between fieldwork and remote network monitoring, and a team of engineers from the Ministry of Interior was present to provide full logistical support. The preparations and enhancements made by Alpha to support the election day, especially the increase of network capacities across all districts through mobile stations, helped avoid network congestion and ensured complete readiness of all stations, resulting in zero complaints across Lebanon."
Furthermore, it was confirmed that "coordination with security forces was close to protect the stations from any potential sabotage that could affect the smooth conduct of the elections."
