Sheikh Naeem Hassan, the Sheikh of the Druze Monotheists, condemned the return of assassination tactics and called for serious investigations into all crimes.
According to the National News Agency, during his reception of the French ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo, at the Druze community's headquarters in Beirut, Sheikh Naeem Hassan expressed his gratitude for the ongoing French efforts to try to open a rescue pathway to extricate Lebanon from its crises amid the complete paralysis of the government formation process locally, despite the significant burdens that necessitate the presence of a government as soon as possible. Sheikh Hassan expressed great sorrow over the return of assassination methods, which impact both human life and the concept of humanity, as well as the essence of political work, freedom of opinion, and dissenting views. He called for serious investigations into all crimes that have occurred, from the murder of Colonel Munir Abu Rjeili to the photographer Joseph Boujani, up to the activist Lukman Salim, emphasizing the need for thorough judicial attention to the investigations of the port explosion and commitment to achieving justice in this tragic case, based on holding accountable those involved and the actual responsible parties. The Sheikh extended condolences to all Lebanese over the death of MP Jean Obeid and to his esteemed family. Sheikh Hassan stated that Lebanon has lost, with Obeid's passing, a figure of political, intellectual, dialogue, cultural, and journalistic prominence, especially in this dark time that increasingly requires wise individuals capable of building bridges and fostering trust among the Lebanese. For her part, Ambassador Anne Grillo emphasized the importance of spiritual leaders' role in promoting internal dialogue and understanding. Grillo stressed the necessity for all Lebanese parties to work towards reconciling differing viewpoints. Present at the meeting were Judge of the Druze sect Sheikh Gandhi Makarim and Sheikh Ghassan Halabi, advisor to the Sheikh of the Druze.
