Suspension of Basem Samra and Rehab El Gamal from Acting

Egyptian artist Ashraf Zaki, the head of the Actors Syndicate in Egypt, issued a decision to suspend Egyptian actors Basem Samra and Rehab El Gamal from practicing their acting profession inside and outside Egypt.

Ashraf Zaki stated that the duo, Basem and Rehab, will be summoned for investigation at the syndicate's headquarters within 48 hours. This action comes following a dispute between Basem Samra and Rehab El Gamal, which began on social media initiated by Rehab and followed by a response from Basem, later escalating to the media.

Ashraf Zaki pointed out that the decision to suspend Basem and Rehab was made after his call for the artists to stop their public spat, whether in the media or on social networks, and to seek assistance from the syndicate to resolve their dispute, which they did not respond to.

He further clarified that the syndicate would inform international unions of the suspension decision if both were engaged in filming scenes abroad or working on Arabic series. The cause of the dispute stems from Rehab accusing Basem of attending a film rehearsal in a state of intoxication and asking for marijuana during the artistic session, a claim Basem has denied.
