A number of nurses in Egypt have launched several hashtags accusing actress Menna Shalaby of racism and mistreatment, following her accusations against two nurses of medical negligence regarding her mother. Shalaby filed a report against the two nurses, claiming they were negligent in caring for her mother, actress Zeze Mustafa, which allegedly caused her to suffer burns.
The nurses called for the nursing syndicate's intervention to assist their colleagues amidst varying testimonies about how Menna Shalaby and her mother treated them. One nurse revealed in a Facebook post that she had previously worked in the home of Menna's mother, Zeze Mustafa, and had experienced similar violations.
She added, "I can't believe the amount of injustice faced by nurses. Imagine leaving your family and home to work, only to find yourself taken to a security office and then to the prosecutor because you are poor. This is my experience working with Menna Shalaby. I know her sadistic behavior and how she treats the nursing staff. Ultimately, after an unintentional burn from a hot water bag that she requested to be put on her mother, she had two girls arrested and treated them as thieves, while multiple people tried to communicate with the actress because the issue was simple and unintended. But she ended up insulting and cursing them as usual in her house and sent them to the police station. They are currently being investigated by the prosecutor."
She continued, "I worked with her for more than three months, and I witnessed her mistreatment and abusive language. We had to sleep on the floor since there was no bed for us, not to mention the poor food, which was just one meal for the entire day."
The nurse described her first encounter with the actress, stating, "During our first meeting, she said that her mother was the most important thing in her life and she wanted nothing but her to be well. I told her that taking care of her mother was our duty, but after she traveled to El Gouna, her treatment changed. I discovered she made the nurses sleep on the ground, which caused me to develop a skin condition, and the food provided was so poor that it often consisted of just one meal a day. When we complained, her response was that we were not there to realize our dreams."
Another nurse commented, "Honestly, I also found her to be very difficult, and the issue with the treatment was trivial but became a disaster for the nurses because of a cannula since her mother's arm had turned slightly red, and she cursed the hospital and left."
The two nurses have been released on bail and investigations are currently underway regarding the incident of negligence, as mentioned in the report submitted by Menna Shalaby, which included medical negligence that led to damage to her mother, resulting in wound infection and severe complications. A medical source revealed that the two nurses accused by Menna Shalaby of neglect during her mother's care are employed by a private company that provides medical care based in Cairo, and Menna had hired them to care for her mother at their residence in El Gouna.
