Snapchat has announced a new feature called 3D Bitmoji, which allows users to bring their virtual avatars to life. Snapchat plans to roll out the feature to the public this week, enabling users to create a three-dimensional version of their Bitmoji for their Snapchat profile and friendship profile on the app. According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail," Bitmoji are animated avatars created by Snapchat users to represent themselves on the social media platform, but previously they were only available in two dimensions.
The 3D Bitmoji feature includes around 1,200 possible combinations of body poses, facial expressions, gestures, and backgrounds for users, giving them greater opportunities to personalize their digital presence and express their personalities as they wish. According to Snapchat, over 200 million people use Bitmoji daily, and over 300 million monthly. The company stated, "From peace signs and prayer hands to scenic beaches and trendy animal print backgrounds, Snapchat users can now create 3D Bitmoji that fit their mood."
They added, "With Pixar-quality 3D capabilities, Snapchat users will see a noticeable improvement in the details of their personalized images, from clothing and accessories to various fashion stickers." Bitmoji on Snapchat is a fun and engaging way for Snapchat users to present themselves on the platform.
"Pa Blackstock," the CEO of Bitmoji, believes that some users may feel uncomfortable putting their pictures on profiles, so they can use Bitmoji as a kind of digital identity and self-expression. The Bitmoji app was created in 2007 as a website called Bitstrips before being acquired by Snapchat in March 2016 for around $100 million. Since then, the company has been developing the feature and adding new capabilities each year. For example, last year, Snapchat launched a television channel called Bitmoji TV, allowing users to create short videos featuring their Bitmoji alongside friends and even celebrities.
