His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, visited the Emirates Humanitarian City, which is temporarily hosting Afghan families evacuated from Afghanistan en route to third countries. During his tour of the city’s facilities and amenities, His Highness reviewed the comprehensive services provided to Afghan families to ensure their comfort and dignified living conditions. He listened to the organizers about all the needs and requirements provided by the city.
Currently, the Emirates Humanitarian City hosts a gathering of arrivals from Afghanistan in preparation for their travel to the United States and other countries under U.S. supervision. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan inspected the operations at the departure site for groups leaving Afghanistan heading to the United States and other nations, receiving updates from U.S. officials regarding the organization of departures and the smoothness of the procedures.
His Highness directed that all forms of support and assistance be provided to the guests to ensure their comfort and reassurance during their stay in the city and to uphold their human dignity. He also ordered the provision of financial aid to all individuals to assist them on their upcoming journey. His Highness stated that the UAE will remain a symbol of assistance and relief in times of hardship and an inspiring source in humanitarian efforts, affirming that it will spare no effort in fulfilling its humanitarian mission driven by values of giving, doing good, and promoting human brotherhood and solidarity with peoples during various circumstances and challenges.
Accompanying him during the visit were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Airports Board, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, His Excellency Ali bin Hamad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, and His Excellency Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Crown Prince's Court of Abu Dhabi.
Upon his arrival at the Emirates Humanitarian City, His Highness was welcomed by Mohammed Matar Abdullah Al Marar, the field commander of the city, Dr. Faisal Musleh Al Hababi, Director of the Public Health System Department, and Ibrahim Farraj Rashid Al Mansouri, Director of the Response Department at the Abu Dhabi Department of Health. Organizing the guests of the city were Sultan Abdullah Al Merrikhi, Sultan Hazaa Sultan Al Darmaki, and Mohamed Hamad Ali Al Darmaki. His Highness’s conversation with the Afghan families was translated by Mansour Mohamed Jaber.
The Emirates Humanitarian City was established in 2020, designed with privacy in mind and meeting the highest security and safety standards. The city features outdoor playgrounds and recreational facilities for both children and adults, in addition to a preventive health center and all necessary means for living essentials such as medicine, food, and other basic living requirements.
