French Newspaper Reveals Neymar's Fate with PSG

The French daily sports newspaper L'Équipe confirmed that Brazilian forward Neymar will extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain for four years until 2026. Neymar (29 years old) joined PSG in 2017 from Spanish club Barcelona in a record deal worth 222 million euros (270.02 million dollars). In 2019, Neymar expressed a desire to leave PSG amid reports of his intention to return to Barcelona, but he continued with the French giant before helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League final last season. PSG hopes to extend the contract of French national team forward Kylian Mbappé, whose contract expires at the end of next season. In his first press conference with PSG in over two years last week, Neymar referred to the Parisian club as his "home," hinting at the possibility of extending his contract. However, he failed to help the team reach the Champions League final for the second consecutive time, as PSG was eliminated from the competition in the semifinals by Manchester City, losing 4-1 on aggregate. Stability and consistency have been lacking in Neymar's performance during his time at PSG, although the Brazilian forward has delighted fans on some occasions with his exceptional skills, leading the team to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles. However, he has not made a significant impact in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
