The expert, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, emphasizes that one should begin to rid themselves of this bad habit only after making a clear decision to do so. He notes that nicotine addiction treatment should start with psychological therapy. Medication is prescribed when quitting smoking causes the individual to experience depression or anxiety. Naturally, the first six months will be very exhausting for the former smoker, especially if they have smoking friends, so it is best in this case to avoid passive smoking as much as possible. The academic also points out that lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer and warns against excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and various sugary foods as substitutes for smoking.
