Reports about a relationship between a 22-year-old student and a 56-year-old private tutor, which led to the discovery of an abandoned newborn in the garbage, have sparked reactions among activists on social media. The Egyptian Al-Ahram portal provided additional details in a report stating: "22-year-old (Mena A.) frequently visited the tutor's home to receive lessons, where they fell in love, leading them to engage in an illicit relationship that resulted in a pregnancy. The girl sought ways to get rid of the child throughout her pregnancy, eventually coming up with the idea to offer the baby for adoption through a post on Facebook."
The report continued: "A couple contacted the girl who had made the post and met with her in the city of Mansoura. They discovered that she was in the late stages of her pregnancy, and to ensure her and her fetus's well-being, they took her to the hospital, where the doctors concluded that the fetus had died inside the womb. Consequently, the couple, Abdul Hadi (23 years old) and Nada (19 years old), decided to help her by taking the deceased fetus and placing it among piles of garbage, as reported to Colonel Ahmed El-Gameli, the officer at the Talka police station, by residents of the Iraqi Street area in the city of Talka who found a fetus wrapped in cloth and thrown in the trash."
Al-Ahram added: "Investigating officers from the Daqahlia Police Department arrived at the scene, and the body was transferred to the Mansoura International Hospital morgue under the supervision of the prosecution. The Director of Security formed a investigation team to uncover the facts and circumstances surrounding the case. Investigations revealed that the individuals responsible were Abdul Hadi (23 years old), a restaurant worker from the city of Talka, and his wife Nada (19 years old), a housewife. Upon their arrest, the couple confessed that they had seen a post on social media, Facebook, from a woman offering a child for adoption. They communicated with her and, when they took her to the hospital, the doctors declared that the baby had died in her womb."
The couple stated, "They learned from the girl named Mena (22 years old), a student at the Faculty of Commerce at Mansoura University, residing in the Mita Ghamr area, that she became pregnant as a result of her illicit relationship with a man named (M.A.), 56 years old, for whom she took lessons at his home. After performing surgery to extract the fetus from her body, the couple decided to assist her by taking the deceased fetus and discarding it where it was found."
Further investigations led to the arrest of the baby's mother, and all parties involved were referred to the public prosecution for investigation.
