The Saudi Cabinet affirmed today, Tuesday, its support for U.S. efforts aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and the necessity of joint action to confront "its destructive activities" in the region. The Saudi Press Agency "SPA" reported that the Council emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to de-escalating tensions in the region.
The agency added that the Council also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's dedication to achieving a comprehensive political solution in Yemen in accordance with the three references and striving for security and prosperity in the country.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session held today afternoon at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. At the beginning of the session, the Council reviewed the communications that the King and the Crown Prince received from leaders of several countries over the past days, during which they discussed relations and ways to support and enhance them across various fields to serve mutual interests and achieve security and stability in the region and the world.
In this context, the Cabinet praised the commitment expressed by the U.S. President to support the Kingdom in defending its territory, protecting its citizens, and securing its defense needs to enhance joint efforts to maintain its security and that of the region.
The Council reiterated "the Kingdom's commitment to removing the causes of escalation in the region, supporting U.S. efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and the necessity of joint action to confront its destructive activities."
The acting Minister of Media, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, stated in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Council subsequently discussed the latest developments and changes in various arenas, valuing the expressions of condemnation and denunciation from brotherly and friendly countries, as well as regional and international organizations and bodies, of the hostile attempt targeting civilian travelers and workers at Abha International Airport, which represents a violation of international law and a war crime, as well as the continued excesses and hostile approach of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia and its refusal to comply with peace calls.
The Cabinet stressed the Kingdom's commitment to reaching a comprehensive political solution in Yemen according to the three references: the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216, and the pursuit of security and growth in this brotherly country, along with continuing to provide humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people and rebuild their country.
