Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns American Practices in Letters to the United Nations and Security Council

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates sent a letter to both the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council regarding the aggressive actions carried out by American occupation forces in the Al-Jazeera region in northeastern Syria.

In the letter, the Syrian Arab Republic expressed its strong condemnation of the aggressive practices by American occupation forces in the Al-Jazeera area and affirmed that these actions represent a blatant violation of its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as a gross violation of international law. It reiterated the demand for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of these forces from its territory. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the Ministry sent this letter concerning the aggressive movements of American occupation forces in the Al-Jazeera area.

The agency indicated that the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the nearly daily aggressive practices by American forces in the areas they occupy in Al-Jazeera. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates noted that over the past years, nearly daily aggressive movements by American occupation forces have been observed, including systematic theft of Syrian resources, agricultural products, and oil from the Al-Jazeera region, in addition to the almost daily introduction of massive military reinforcements, logistical equipment, various weapons, and military vehicles from Iraq to some illegitimate American military bases in the countryside of the town of Al-Yarubiyah in Hasakah Governorate via the illegitimate Al-Walid crossing. It clarified that all these aggressive movements occurred daily in complete disregard for the Security Council's resolutions, which have consistently emphasized the need to respect Syria's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

The Ministry affirmed that these movements and aggressive behavior by the occupying American forces coincide with the departure of the current deceitful Trump administration, which has worked to destabilize Syria and supported and encouraged separatist movements aimed at dividing Syria and preventing a political solution. It provided all forms of support to terrorists and facilitated the ongoing aggression against the positions of the Syrian Arab Army and its allies in northeastern Syria and elsewhere while attempting to market lies about what it calls fighting terrorism and protecting the Syrian people.

The Ministry stressed that the realities on the ground proved the opposite, as it provided unlimited support to all types and forms of extremist terrorists in Syria, created chaos, managed it, and sought to obstruct any political solution in Syria in service of the Zionist project and imposing hegemony over the region. This was confirmed by the recent statements of US officials from the outgoing Trump administration, which provided clear evidence of the extent of this administration's lies and the nature of the destructive aggressive objectives it sought to achieve over the past years in its ongoing aggression against Syria while simultaneously revealing its entrenched hostility towards the Syrian Arab people.

The Ministry continued that the Syrian Arab Republic confirms that the actions of the American occupying forces represent a blatant assault on the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as a gross violation of international law and the Security Council resolutions related to Syria, including Resolution 2254.

The Ministry added that Syria, based on its respect for international law and the UN Charter, demands an end to these shameful American aggressive practices and calls on the international community to condemn the American movements and its continued occupation of Syrian lands, as well as its imposition of unilateral coercive economic measures aimed at starving the Syrian people. It also calls on the international community to take action to put an end to the arrogance and aggression and terminate this occupation of Syrian lands, indicating that the continuation of these American policies in the coming phase will pose a challenge to the will of the international community and prolong the bloodshed and absence of stability in Syria.

The Ministry concluded its letter by stating that Syria affirms that its people and army, who have recorded remarkable epics of resilience and victories against the extremist terrorism and tools of the American project, are more determined and steadfast in thwarting the renewed conspiracy and ending any form of American presence in Syria and its tools and clients while establishing legitimate authority over all territories of the Syrian Arab Republic and preserving its sovereignty and unity as land and people. It reiterated the demand for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of American occupation forces and their allies from the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
