The National News Agency reported that Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Tarek Al-Majdoub issued decision number 20/M/2021 regarding the closure of administrative units in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Lebanese University, the Educational Research and Development Center, and both public and private educational institutions. This decision also includes the organization of emergency work during the extended period of complete closure starting from the morning of Monday, January 25, 2021, until the morning of Monday, February 8, 2021.
The decision clarified that the Minister of Education and Higher Education, in adherence to the extension of complete closure from the morning of January 25, 2021, decided to close the administrative units in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as well as in the Educational Research and Development Center in the central and provincial administrations. The reception of citizens and inquiries in these units will be completely suspended. Emergency work of an urgent nature will continue at a presence rate of no more than 10% on Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to a list of names signed by the director general or the president of the Educational Research and Development Center, as relevant, which will be presented to security agencies when needed. The director of the joint administration will submit the proposed names to the Minister for approval and signature, and each unit head will organize this work on the specified days.
Moreover, the decision mentioned that the Lebanese University will continue emergency work as determined by the university president, also at a maximum presence of 10%, based on a signed list of names presented to security agencies when needed.
The decision indicated that only directors of official and private educational institutions and one mechanization worker (only one with the director) are allowed entry into educational institutions on Thursdays during the closure period without receiving anyone to finalize schedules and receivables, based on a list of names signed by the relevant general director and presented to security agencies when necessary.
The decision emphasized the necessity for employees tasked with attending during their presence to comply with all required safety measures against the coronavirus and public safety requirements.
