Under the title "Houthi Forces Displace Hundreds of Families in Al-Bayda: Calls for Help," the Al-Arabiya website reported that despite weeks passing since hundreds of Yemeni families fled Al-Bayda Governorate, they continue to live in the open after being displaced by Houthi militias from their areas in the districts of Al-Zahir, Nati, and Nauman, amid a lack of intervention from relief organizations. The displaced families issued a call for help to the Yemeni government, local authorities, and all humanitarian organizations, regional and local, for urgent intervention and rapid response, as reported by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on Monday.
The emergency statement highlighted the catastrophic conditions faced by hundreds of families in isolated mountainous areas and the lack of basic necessities for life. Mustafa Al-Baydani, head of the media center for the Al-Bayda resistance, called for the urgent relief of displaced persons due to the tyranny and crimes of the Houthi militia, stating that the displaced "left their shelters suddenly and now have nothing to house them."
1400 Families Displaced
In contrast, Najeeb Al-Saadi, director of the Executive Unit for Displaced Camps, told the newspaper that "the displacement from the districts of Al-Zahir and Al-Soma'a in Al-Bayda Governorate has been very extensive." He added that "1,400 families have displaced to Al-Had district in Yafa," noting that they "have communicated with international organizations and coordinated with them to send emergency teams, but the response has been delayed." He also clarified that several organizations "will conduct field visits to the regions of Al-Had Yafa to assess the conditions of the displaced there, but overall, the response is very weak and has not matched the level of displacement that has occurred."
Calls for Relief Organizations to Intervene
The director general of the Planning and International Cooperation Office in Al-Bayda Governorate, Mohammed Al-Talabi, revealed that more than 1,400 people from the Al-Zahir district alone have displaced to the Al-Had district in Yafa, according to field statistics. He urged international and regional relief organizations to move quickly and provide assistance to them. It is worth noting that since the Houthi militias took control of Al-Zahir in mid-June, the district has witnessed a mass exodus of residents to the south. Meanwhile, other numbers of families have fled from the districts of Nati and Nauman in the east of the governorate after the militia took control of most of them at the end of last month.
