Diabolical Scheme: Facebook Friend Lured to Kill Her Husband

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Alexandria Security Directorate in Egypt has unveiled the mystery surrounding the murder of a battery trader inside his home in the Azbet Arabi area of the Second Al-Amiriya Police Department. The victim's wife alleged that intruders broke into their apartment, killed him, and bound her with ropes before fleeing. Investigations revealed that the wife was behind the crime, having enlisted the help of a young man she met on the social media platform Facebook. She created a profile using a borrowed name and photo, and deceitfully claimed she was single, alleging that the victim had raped her and that she wanted revenge and to rid herself of him so she could marry someone else, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.

In detail, the authorities received a report from a housewife stating that unknown individuals had invaded her apartment in the Azbet Arabi area, tied her up, and killed her husband before escaping. Police officers from the department arrived at the scene and found the 35-year-old husband, a battery shop owner, dead in his home, where he lived next to his brother and uncle.

At the crime scene, investigators discovered the victim's body, fully clothed, lying between the kitchen and the bathroom of the apartment, in a pool of blood, with a slashed neck and various injuries throughout his body, and no stolen items present. When questioned, the wife accused unknown assailants of knocking on the front door in the early morning and, when she opened it, striking her on the head while saying, "Let the ground take your husband," according to her statement. The wife further claims that she lost consciousness afterward, and that the intruders stabbed her husband in the chest inside their bedroom, although he fought back until they chased him to the kitchen, where he took his last breaths.

An official report was filed at the Second Al-Amiriya Police Department, and the prosecutor ordered the retrieval of surveillance camera footage from the vicinity of the incident, an autopsy of the victim's body, and requested investigations into the case. Immediately, the police chief ordered the formation of a research team, focusing on re-examining the wife's statements and investigating the husband's acquaintances and relatives to determine the nature of any enemies he might have, as well as the wife's reputation.

On re-interrogating the wife, inconsistencies in her statements about the incident emerged. She initially claimed her husband had feuds with individuals over antiquities digging, but later mentioned disputes over a piece of land, raising investigators' suspicions. Examination of the surveillance footage, as per the prosecutor's order, revealed a young man in his twenties entering the victim's house in the early hours. With modern technology, the mystery of the incident was unraveled, revealing that the perpetrator was a 20-year-old electrician from Giza, incited by the victim's wife after she had met him via social media.

Investigations revealed that the wife created a Facebook account under a fake name, using photos of a very attractive young woman, and got acquainted with the suspect while claiming to be single. Their relationship developed through social media until he proposed marriage. According to the investigation, the wife stopped communicating with the suspect for a period but then contacted him again, alleging that a relative had sexually assaulted her, leading her to lose her virginity and that she was forced to marry him. She convinced the suspect to eliminate the husband.

The investigations confirmed that the wife provided the suspect with her address and her husband’s name, portraying him as her rapist. She agreed with him that one of her relatives would facilitate his entry into the apartment by opening the door for him in the early morning and would hand him a knife to kill her husband. A shocking detail from the investigations revealed that the suspect met the wife without recognizing her at the door, as the photos of her on Facebook were manipulated. She handed him the knife used in the incident and assisted him in killing her husband before fabricating the story about being tied up.

It was found that the suspect had come from Giza and had waited at a cafe near the victim's home until dawn. The wife opened the door for him and handed him the knife, which he used to stab the husband while he was sleeping; however, the latter resisted until he was ultimately slaughtered near the kitchen. In coordination with the Giza Security Directorate, the suspect was arrested, and he was in disbelief upon learning the true nature of the deceptive wife who had exploited him to kill her husband without his knowledge.
