Artist Sabri Abdel Moneim Talks About His Cancer Battle

Egyptian artist Sabri Abdel Moneim reveals many secrets and behind-the-scenes details about his personal and artistic life filled with remarkable television, cinematic, and radio works when he appears as a guest on the journalist Dr. Amr El Lithey's new episode of the program "One of the People" on Al Hayat Channel.

Sabri Abdel Moneim discusses his collaboration and relationship with director Ismail Abdel Hafiz, and the prominent writer and screenwriter Osama Anwar Okasha, as well as his friendship with musician Ammar El Sherei and his relationship with his contemporaries, particularly the artist Mohamed Ramadan, with whom he has participated in most of his films, according to Sada El Balad.

He reveals secrets about his marriage to the late artist Abdel Moneim Ibrahim's daughter thirty years ago and the reason her father rejected her participation in the film "Empire of Meem." He also talks about her support during his struggle with pain and his cancer diagnosis.

Sabri Abdel Moneim has participated in numerous theatrical plays and TV specials, but the early 1980s marked a turning point in his career after his appearance in "Back Streets" and "Muhammad, Messenger of God." Over time, his participation in a single year increased, presenting roles in "Ayyoub El Bahar,” “Case Number 1,” and others.

His real breakthrough came with the series "The Blood and Tears," which aired in 1983, in the role of Mokhtar, followed by "Abu Al-Ala El-Beshari," "Ra’fat El-Hagan," and "The Dreamy Nights," marking his successful phase in the 1990s, along with films like "The Egg and the Stone," "The Trap of Foxes," and "The Era of the Strong."

Sabri Abdel Moneim excelled in playing the roles of police officers, prosecutors, and distinguished detectives, while also portraying some of the leading gang members in films due to his deep voice and sharp looks, until the series "Zizinya" discovered the romantic character within his talent, presenting him as a lover to Aida Hanem, played by Aser Hakim.

Beginning from the Republic of Zefta and Hawnem Garden City, Sabri Abdel Moneim continued to contribute through "Aida Opera," then "Morning and Evening Talks," and he still appears in many successful dramas including "Dhil Ragel," "Layalina 80," and "El Ikhtiyar," among others.

Not many know that Sabri Abdel Moneim is the husband of the late artist Abdel Moneim Ibrahim's daughter, named "Souhair," with whom he has a son and a daughter, named Abdel Moneim and Mariam.
