According to Agence France-Presse, Australia has officially abandoned its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Australia announced that it will no longer recognize West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, reversing a controversial decision made by the previous conservative government. Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated in a statement that "Jerusalem is a final status issue that should be resolved in the context of any peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian people."
