The statement from the Elysee Palace said, "In a phone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, the French president condemned the annexation of the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Kherson, and Zaporizhia to Russia after the referendums held in these regions. The French president reaffirmed the country's determination to work with its European partners to impose new sanctions against Russia."
