The Islamic Republic News Agency reported that the head of the judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, announced that women who violate the Islamic dress code will be punished. Following the death of the Kurdish young woman Mahsa Amini while in custody of the morality police for breaching strict dress rules on September 16, protests erupted across Iran, posing one of the greatest challenges to Tehran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
