The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations stated on Thursday that its humanitarian response plan for Yemen in 2023 requires funding of $71 million to implement, providing agricultural humanitarian assistance to 2.67 million people from January to December 2023.
In late February, the United Nations raised approximately $1.2 billion from donors, equivalent to a quarter of the required amount to implement a $4.3 billion aid plan for Yemen, which is one of the largest humanitarian disasters in the world. Yemen is experiencing a severe economic and humanitarian crisis, reportedly the worst in the world, due to the ongoing war, significant funding gaps, global inflation, and the indirect effects of the war in Ukraine.
