Britain Joins TikTok Ban Movement

Britain announced an immediate ban on the Chinese app "TikTok" on government devices due to security concerns. In a statement to Parliament, Minister of State Oliver Dowden, whose portfolio includes cybersecurity, said: "We will ban the use of TikTok on government devices with immediate effect as it is a precautionary measure. We know that there is already limited use of TikTok within the government, but this is just good digital hygiene." He added: "Due to specific risks related to government devices that may contain sensitive information, it is wise and appropriate to restrict the use of certain applications, especially those that access and store large amounts of data."
