French President Emmanuel Macron called for the "election of a president in Lebanon as soon as possible." Macron met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Bangkok on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific summit, according to the Élysée Palace. The two leaders discussed the situation in Lebanon and the war in Ukraine, as stated by the French presidency. During a phone call on Saturday, Macron and bin Salman agreed to "enhance their cooperation to meet the humanitarian needs of Lebanon." Macron also emphasized the "necessity of electing a president promptly to ensure the effective implementation of essential structural reform programs for Lebanon's recovery."
