In a first move after completing his acquisition of Twitter, American billionaire Elon Musk decided to fire the company’s upper leadership, which he previously accused of "misleading" him. Musk believed that the company’s leadership had misled him regarding the number of fake accounts on the social media platform, claims which the company denied. Late Thursday evening, Musk finalized the acquisition deal for Twitter for $44 billion. He dismissed Twitter’s CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Chief Legal Officer and Policy Vijaya Gadde. Agrawal and Segal were at Twitter's headquarters in San Francisco when the deal was finalized and were escorted out of the premises.
