New Project Between Egypt and Russia: What Does It Include?

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held discussions with Russian officials regarding joint projects, particularly the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant, which Russia is building on Egypt's northern coast, as well as grain supplies and food security. According to the Egyptian presidency, the meeting included officials such as the Russian Minister of Trade and the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and it also addressed the establishment of a Russian industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, along with other investments. The state-owned Russian nuclear energy company, Rosatom, began constructing Egypt's first nuclear plant at Dabaa in July of last year, with work expected to continue until at least 2030.
