The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced today, Friday, that Russia has informed it that equipment observed at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is controlled by Russia in Ukraine, will be used to repair a power transmission line extending into territories controlled by Moscow. The planned restart of the damaged power line is likely to heighten Ukrainian concerns that Russia is preparing to connect Zaporizhzhia, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, to the power grid in the areas under its control. There are only a few agency officials at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is operated by a Ukrainian staff working under the orders of Russian forces and the Russian nuclear energy company (Rosatom).
