National Earthquake Center in Syria: Tremor of 4.8 Magnitude

The National Earthquake Center in Syria announced today, Sunday, the registration of an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale in the İskenderun region, northern Syria. Residents of Aleppo and Latakia felt the tremor, according to the Syrian news agency "SANA." So far, there have been no reports of any damage. Meanwhile, the Turkish "AFAD" (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) stated that an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck Hatay, southern Turkey, with its epicenter in the city of Kırıkhan at a depth of 7.4 km, at 11:36 AM today. Several residents of Beirut and Mount Lebanon also felt a light tremor this Sunday afternoon.
