In 2023, the first electric model from the Omoda brand, part of the Chinese company Chery, will be sold in Russia. This was reported by the Russian newspaper "Gazeta.ru," citing a spokesperson for the company in Russia. Yevgenia Nikitina, the head of Chery's press office in Russia, stated that the Chinese electric car is based on the small Omoda C5 crossover, which is currently sold in the Russian market. However, the two electric and hybrid versions of the C5 have not yet been revealed even in China. The Chinese company has also not disclosed the technical specifications of the new electric car. The classic four-wheel-drive model powered by gasoline is currently available in the Russian market with a turbo engine producing 147 horsepower at a price of 2.4 million rubles. It is noteworthy that media reports had previously indicated that the Belarusian car company SGP plans to start selling electric cars from the Chinese company BYD in the Russian market in 2023.
