UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Taliban authorities' decision to prohibit Afghan women from working for the international organization. He called for the "immediate reversal of the decision," describing it as "an unacceptable violation of the most basic human rights." The United Nations informed approximately 3,300 of its staff in Afghanistan, including around 400 women, not to contact their offices until further notice for security reasons. About 600 personnel from international organizations in Afghanistan were not affected by the ban.
