Huddersfield Town, struggling in the English Football League Championship, announced on Thursday that a North American group, whose name has not been disclosed, has purchased the club. This acquisition will end Chairman Dean Hoyle's 14-year association with Huddersfield, who is facing the risk of relegation from the second tier. Huddersfield stated in a statement that "Hoyle acquired 75 percent of the club's shares before signing a contract with the North American group to sell the team," adding that "the deal is pending some legal and administrative matters." Hoyle first took over as chairman in 2009 and sold the team to Phil Hodgkinson ten years later. He returned to Huddersfield in 2021 but resigned from his position as Chief Executive due to health issues in 2022.
