Authorities in the Indian state of Manipur have evacuated about 20,000 people to camps under military protection to prevent escalating ethnic violence, following days of clashes between tribal and non-tribal groups. Manipur's Chief of Police, P. Dongle, stated, "A greater number of soldiers have been deployed to enhance security. The situation is not under full control, but it is gradually improving." He explained that three temporary camps have been set up for shelter and protection. Internet services in the state have been suspended to prevent the use of social media in inciting chaos.
