Deputy Speaker of the House Elias Bou Saab emphasized that the legislative session next Tuesday is specifically to discuss the topic of municipal elections. He stated that laws would be integrated to handle ordinary citizen matters and ensure the proper functioning of public services, noting that "the proposed law regarding municipalities is not an extension, but rather in the interest of the citizen and to avoid a vacuum." After a meeting of the Council's bureau at the second presidency in Ain al-Tineh, he stressed, "We do not want a vacuum in municipal councils, and when the government sees fit, municipal and optional elections should take place." Regarding some political forces' intention to challenge the session, he pointed out that "any team has the right to object or challenge according to laws and constitutional frameworks. However, the legislative session is for urgent legislation, which previously took place in the absence of a president of the republic, and most of the blocs rejecting it today used to attend those sessions. If the issue is about making a political stand, it contradicts previous positions."
