Despite his disability, math teacher Shihada Al-Khatib dedicates five hours of his day to provide low-cost private lessons for students in Gaza who cannot afford expensive tutoring. From his wheelchair, he meets his students at his son's home to teach them mathematics. He explains that the idea arose during the COVID-19 pandemic when students were unable to attend school for two years. Al-Khatib offers free lessons to those students who cannot afford them at all. Today, approximately 50 students attend his classes. He became paralyzed in 2003 after being shot with a heavy-caliber bullet.
