The Lebanese General Security has resumed the activation of its offices at the municipality center of Arsal in northern Bekaa as of Wednesday. This activity had previously stopped due to logistical reasons related to organizing voluntary return trips for displaced persons. Following the directives of the Acting Director General of General Security, Brigadier Elias Baysari, the registration process for those wishing to return voluntarily to their villages has been relaunched. The center witnessed a remarkable turnout on its first day, with approximately 50 families registered for return to their villages in the western Qalamoun and Qusair countryside.
General Security will continue to register names at its center for three days each week, which will be announced later. In this context, the General Directorate of General Security also announced on Wednesday the "Regularization of Status for Syrians in Violation from 15/07/2022 to 30/06/2023." It is noteworthy that the Lebanese caretaker Minister of the Interior, Bassam Mawlawi, issued a series of measures on Tuesday to organize the situation of Syrian displaced persons in Lebanon.
