Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin called on Thursday for the trial of Russian leaders for the invasion of Ukraine, even if they cannot be arrested and tried in person. Kostin, during a temporary visit to The Hague, the location of the International Criminal Court, stated that "the court for the crime of aggression that is set to be established should hold trials in absentia for them." He spoke after a meeting with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, which last week issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him and the head of his child assistance program of committing a war crime by forcibly deporting children from Ukraine to Russia.
