The United States indicated today, Tuesday, that a Chinese fighter jet executed a "unnecessary aggressive maneuver" near a U.S. military aircraft over the South China Sea in international airspace. The U.S. military command for the Indo-Pacific region stated in a press release that "the Chinese J-16 aircraft conducted a maneuver last week, forcing a U.S. RC-135 aircraft to fly in a state of turbulence caused by wake." The statement said, "The United States will continue to fly and sail safely and responsibly, as long as international law allows."
