A recent study has revealed the risks associated with smoking e-cigarettes, debunking the common belief held by many that they are less harmful than regular cigarettes. According to a study conducted by the Australian National University and published in the Medical Journal of Australia, smokers of flavored e-cigarettes inhale a complex mixture of chemicals.
Lead researcher Professor Emily Banks stated that e-cigarettes contain 240 chemicals, with 38 classified as toxic and 27 others considered harmful to health, particularly the lungs. The study also indicated that e-cigarette users could be poisoned by nicotine itself, as reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail." Nicotine poisoning can lead to acute cardiovascular and respiratory episodes as well as depression.
