Moscow: NATO's Intent to Supply Moldova with Weapons Threatens Real Catastrophe

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday that NATO's plans to supply weapons to the Republic of Moldova pose a real threat of catastrophe. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated, "The intensification of cooperation between Chișinău (the capital of Moldova) and NATO countries in the military and military-technical fields significantly undermines the security of Moldova itself. As experience shows, the reckless pumping of this country (Moldova) with Western weapons, or the deployment of NATO units on its territory, does not contribute at all to its security and sovereignty; on the contrary, it brings it closer to catastrophe. The Ukrainian experience is very clear."

Earlier, Moldovan officials expressed their desire to enhance the country's defense capabilities and acquire the necessary weapons. Moldova's Defense Minister Anatolie Nosati spoke about the need to establish an air defense system, but the country currently lacks the necessary funds for this.
