Israeli Army Extends Closure of Palestinian Territories

Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee announced that "based on the directives of the Minister of Defense and security assessments, it has been decided to extend the general closure in the Judea and Samaria area and the Gaza Strip until midday next Wednesday." He added, "During the closure, exceptions will be made for humanitarian and medical cases with the approval of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories." Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced last Saturday the extension of the closure on the Palestinian territories and the cancellation of previously approved facilities during Ramadan until the end of the Jewish “Passover” holiday next Wednesday evening. Galant also ordered the military to join police forces in central Israel to assist in maintaining security.
