Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted on Wednesday evening, "I did it," referring to his success in forming the new Israeli government. Netanyahu, who won the legislative elections on November 1st with his allies, informed President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday night that he "succeeded" in forming the new government, just minutes before the deadline allowed.
It is noted that following the elections and according to Israeli rules, Netanyahu had until December 11th to announce his government, but he requested a 14-day extension, which is the maximum allowed by law. He now has a week to take the constitutional oath for his government. The full parliament session only meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and a vote of confidence can only occur the following Monday. This means the government must take the oath after a week, specifically on January 2nd.
